It’s amazing how many activities you can squeeze into two days sailing through the Whitsunday Islands! On board Defender, you are set to have the time of your life! Visiting secluded bays, unique fringing coral reef locations and iconic Whitsunday destinations including Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet lookout, you’re in for a treat! Passengers are invited to get involved with the physical sailing which is an absolute blast - especially if the wind is in your favour!

Your itinerary will vary trip to trip as the crew will analyse the weather conditions of the day to ensure you sleep in a sheltered bay and visit the best snorkelling locations! You are guaranteed to visit Whitehaven Beach, Hill Inlet Lookout and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Below you can find a sample itinerary of what you can expect on your trip with Defender.

Typically on your first day you’ll have the opportunity to visit two Great Barrier Reef snorkelling locations. Your crew will determine which locations you’ll visit on the day depending on the wind and tidal conditions. You will likely visit bays around Hook Island and Hayman Island. There, you can dive into the underwater world below and come face-to-face with a kaleidoscope of tropical marine life. Look for turtles, reef sharks, giant clams, and if you’re lucky - manta rays!

Your second day will see you visiting world famous Whitehaven Beach. With soft white, pure silica sands stretching for 7kms and crystal-clear waters lapping along the shores, the beach is guaranteed to take your breath away. You’ll spend ample time exploring the north end of Whitehaven where you can find hidden coves, turquoise lagoons and bushwalking trails. After your Whitehaven fix you’ll head up to Hill Inlet Lookout where the views are like no other in the Whitsundays! Be sure to take your camera so you can snap the remarkable swirling sands and aqua blue waters below.
